Many students tend to go south for spring break, hoping to find sun, warmth, and beaches. Instead, I headed north where I found snow, woods, and craft beer.
This weekend, Adam and I, along with his cousin, Lindsay, and her boyfriend, Aaron, went to the 10th Annual Suds & Snow festival. We were under the impression that it was a snowshoeing event; however, the weather was nice enough and the trails were too slick and packed to snowshoe. What started out as an overcast day turned into a beautiful adventure.
Suds & Snow in Traverse City, Michigan at the Timber Ridge Resort hosted many events. This year it was held on March 5th, 2016. There was a fat tire bicycle race in the morning. The later event started at 1 pm and ended at 6 pm. It was a half mile hike into the back of the resort where you were brought to two live-music stages, 20+ craft breweries serving beer, wine, cider, and local food vendors as well. We were able to try a wide variety of Northern Michigan beers, as well as my local favorite – Bell’s Brewery’s Hop Slam! It was also exciting picking up all the free stickers and pins that the breweries give away. Great souvenirs! I added mine to my mini-fridge that will soon be my beer and wine fridge for the garage!
There were a few ticket options ranging from $25-$50. We waited to pay at the door and paid $35. However, that included two free drink tokens. Depending on which ticket you bought, you could receive (or pay $10) for a cool silipint of half pint.
If you enjoy people watching, good craft beer, hanging out in the woods, and listening to good music, this is an event you can NOT miss next year! I know it will be on my list!
